« Every word is prejudice », says Nietzsche. « That's the reason why no one who thinks will ever have the courage to say the thoughts he had [1] », added Plato. At least he does not deposit them without difficulties, and declining any responsibility for their faithfulness in advance. The verb is weak, alas ! But Maynard says :

« If your mind wants to hide
the beautiful things it thinks
Tell me, who can stop you
From using silence ? »

In truth, the philosophical expression is not a shibboleth; quite the contrary : it proceeds from the Drang poetic. The flash of fire that a meteorite draws on entering our atmosphere at the end of its astronomical journey : here are the words of philosopher and poet, transformed by the alchemy that turns intuition into verb.

Thus, a flourished art is always fed by symbolism, surrealism and contamination. Yes, Friedrich Vischer, the canvas — we must see them stink. Yes, Eduard Hauslicks, it's your nose that annoys Tchaikovsky — could he devour it ? Already in the fourth century BC, Chuang Tzu lampooned fools who think that art should represent a reality.

So again, the crater of thought must feed its magma all its fire, and perhaps after an eruption, there will be unknown brilliance found among some lapilli and scoria stones — otherwise it remains a night of serious drinking, since René Daumal starts with a laborious dialogue about the power of words and the weakness of the mind.

To each his voice and his tone, but silence the hemiplegic minds ! Poetry and philosophy are two opposite mountains where we speak about the same thing, Heidegger reminds us (and before him, Descartes in Olympics). Go further : these mountains are opposed only until they speak to say nothing. Lettristic and dialectic poetry are then empty corpses whose heap casts an infertile shadow.

Ultimately, with rhyme or reason, careless of the diversity of their rags or war canvases, creators find themselves under the same banner as Shakespeare :

« But wherefore do not you a mightier way
Make war upon this bloody tyrant Time ?
And fortify your self in your decay
With means more blessed than my barren rhyme ? »

[1] Many will have the courage to die gallantly, but will not have the courage to say, or even think, that the cause for which he is asked to die is an unworthy one.
